Mini Angel Food Cake with Strawberry Rose Icing

angel food cake

cake

Angel Food Cake is a cake that does not contain butter , oil or any fat.So if you’re looking for a low fat and low calorie cake this is one you can try.Angel Food Cake is a sponge cake that is unique and different from all available cakes out there in that it doesn’t take any butter to make.I am not kidding this is true. Its conventional to bake an angel food cake in a tube pan , sometimes even a bundt pan but I like to be adventurous. I baked my cake in a pie tin, sure it wasn’t as perfect as could have been but it wasn’t half as bad.Of course if you are baking for friends or family do go out and splurge on a a tube pan.

  • Prep Time: 15m
  • Cook Time: 30m
  • Total Time: 45m

Ingredients

For Cake

  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Strawberry pulp
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Egg Whites,3
  • 1/2 cup Cake Flour
  • 1 cup Whipped cream

For Icing

    Instructions

    1. Whip up the egg whites along with cream of tartar and salt to stiff peaks. Make sure to add in sugar when you find the meringue coming together
    2. Fold in gently the flour, vanilla into the whipped egg whites.
    3. Grease your baking pan with butter and apply parchment paper, please dont skip parchment paper if you ever plan on separating the cake from the pan
    4. Preheat your oven to 180C/375F and bake for 30-35 min till the outer surface is light golden brown and a tooth pick inserted comes out clean
    5. For the topping I used a mixture of whipped cream flavoured with strawberry but you can skip it and just do some powdered sugar, as your heart desires.
