Spicy Roasted Potato Fries


Roasted Potatoes are the crispy and the most yummilicious side dish that pairs perfectly with everything you make. On the side of a burger, a plate of good old spaghetti, braised vegetables ,rice pulav you name it.This is the secret recipe to make them crispy golden brown.They are a treat for a weekday dinner and they don’t take that long, they are practically just sitting in the oven while you finish your chores.The best part about these potatoes is that they are cooked to perfection on the inside and roasted crispy on the outside. The microwave step makes the potatoes absorb all that delicious seasoning you put out there.I mean cmmon just look at the photo if you love carbs as much as me you’ll be making them every once a week. They are the best when it comes to indulging in food.Now I have turned them over and roasted them twice for that crispy all over texture.So please take the extra step of flipping them over for gorgeous golden brown fries.The added bonus ? They are baked not fried, lesser oil not that it makes it any healthier but ok.




So a quick summary, steam em then roast them for a deep golden brown crispy roasted potatoes. They are also going to be a hit if you’re throwing in a dinner party and don’t have a lot of time on hand.These pretty much take care of themselves so why the hell not.Your guests will thank you because who doesn’t love potatoes.Ok while I typed the last sentence the scene from the movie Martian just crossed by brain. I remember Matt Daemon stuck on Mars with nothing but a good amount of supply of mars grown potatoes. I know that was a stretch and he really got fed up with potatoes.May be he should have visited my blog.Oh sorry he didn’t have an internet connection did he? Thats why it took forever to contact the home planet.Fiction aside I cant stress this enough please give this recipe a try and I assure you, you wont be disappointed.

  • 1 kilogram Large Potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly cracked
  • 1 teaspoon Salt


  1. Preheat oven to 220C(450F) degrees and place a large non stick baking sheet into the oven to get extremely hot (this is so that potatoes wont stick and they get very crispy)
  2. Place all the ingredients except potatoes into a large zip lock bag and toss to mix.
  3. Slice the potatoes into fat wedges and place them in a microwave safe plate and microwave for 3 minutes.
  4. Once the potatoes come out of the microwave add them in the zip lock bag with the spice mixture and let stand for 10 minutes so that the warm potatoes can absorb all the flavour.
  5. Roast potatoes for 50 minutes or until crispy golden brown, turning them once every 25 minutes so that both sides get crispy golden brown.
